Spend the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure, relaxing after your journey or exploring the nearby shops and restaurants.

Depart Windhoek after breakfast and travel southwest with your guide through the scenic Khomas Hochland highlands, descending the escarpment into the vast Namib Desert. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route as you take in the dramatic landscapes that lead to one of Namibia’s most iconic regions,  Sossusvlei, located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park.

This area is famous for its towering red sand dunes, some reaching nearly 400 metres high, as well as the striking contrasts of blue skies and deep orange sands. The region is home to wildlife such as oryx, springbok, ostrich, and various desert-adapted reptiles.

Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon and check in. Depending on time, visit the Sesriem Canyon with your guide or relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the desert surroundings.

Overnight: Sossusvlei
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

Rise early for a sunrise excursion to Sossusvlei, when the soft morning light creates breathtaking contrasts across the towering red dunes of the Namib Desert. These dunes, some of the highest in the world, are at their most beautiful in the early hours as the shadows stretch across the sand.

Visit the famous Dune 45, known for its graceful shape and easy climb that rewards visitors with spectacular panoramic views of the desert. Continue to Deadvlei, an ancient clay pan surrounded by dramatic orange dunes and scattered with the dark, sun-scorched remains of 900-year-old camelthorn trees which is a truly surreal and unforgettable sight.

Explore Sossusvlei, home to desert wildlife including oryx, springbok, and ostrich, and then end the day with a visit to the Sesriem Canyon, a narrow gorge carved by the Tsauchab River over millions of years.

After a full day of exploration, return to your lodge to relax and enjoy a peaceful evening under the desert sky.

Overnight: Sossusvlei

After breakfast, depart with your guide for a scenic drive through the Namib-Naukluft National Park, travelling from the heart of the desert toward Namibia’s spectacular Atlantic coast. Along the route, take in striking desert vistas and stop to admire the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons, natural formations carved over millions of years by ancient rivers.

Arrive in Walvis Bay, Namibia’s principal port town, and visit the Walvis Bay Lagoon, one of southern Africa’s most important wetlands. Here, you can observe vibrant flocks of flamingos, pelicans, and other seabirds feeding in the shallows.

Continue north to the charming coastal town of Swakopmund, a picturesque destination known for its German colonial architecture, seaside promenade, and relaxed atmosphere. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the town, browse local shops, or enjoy a stroll along the beach.

In the evening, savour a seafood dinner at The Tug Restaurant, located beside the historic Swakopmund jetty and known for its fresh ocean fare and warm coastal ambience.

For those seeking adventure, a variety of optional activities can be arranged, including scenic flights over the desert, quad biking, sandboarding, skydiving, boat cruises, or guided desert tours.

Your guide will be available to help plan or pre-book your chosen activities.

After breakfast, depart Swakopmund and travel inland toward the dramatic landscapes of Damaraland, one of Namibia’s most scenic and geologically fascinating regions. Along the journey, pass by Brandberg Mountain, the country’s highest peak, and enjoy the ever-changing views of desert plains, rocky outcrops, and rugged valleys.

Arrive in the Twyfelfontein area, home to one of Africa’s largest concentrations of ancient rock engravings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region also features striking natural landmarks such as the Organ Pipes and the Burnt Mountain, both formed millions of years ago through volcanic activity and erosion.

If time allows, explore these historic and geological sites in the afternoon before returning to your lodge. Enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by Damaraland’s vast wilderness, with the opportunity to take a short sunset walk and soak in the silence of this remote landscape.

Overnight: Twyfelfontein Lodge
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

After breakfast, set out with your guide on a scenic drive through Damaraland, one of Namibia’s most captivating wilderness areas. The rugged terrain, marked by rolling hills and dry riverbeds, is home to desert-adapted elephants, black rhinos, zebras, and occasionally lions, all specially evolved to survive in this arid environment.

During the day, visit the Twyfelfontein rock engravings, where ancient Bushman artists carved their stories into stone thousands of years ago. These are among the best-preserved examples of early human expression in Africa. Continue to the Petrified Forest, where you can see massive fossilised trees, some up to 30 metres long, that date back over 280 million years.

Return to your lodge in the late afternoon to unwind and enjoy dinner while taking in the peace of this ancient landscape.

Overnight: Twyfelfontein Lodge
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

After breakfast, depart Damaraland and travel northeast toward the renowned Ongava Private Game Reserve, located along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park. The scenic drive takes you through the small towns of Khorixas and Outjo, offering glimpses of Namibia’s rural life and vast open landscapes.

Arrive at Ongava, a 30,000-hectare private reserve celebrated for its exceptional conservation work, thriving wildlife populations, and luxurious lodges built harmoniously with nature. The area is home to white and black rhinos, lions, elephants, giraffes, and a rich variety of antelope and bird species.

If time allows, embark on your first game drive within the reserve this afternoon. Experience the thrill of spotting wildlife up close, including Ongava’s iconic rhino population, before returning to your camp for dinner and relaxation under the African night sky.

After breakfast, set off for a full day of game viewing in Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s premier wildlife destinations. Enter the park through Andersson Gate and journey across its vast landscapes, from open grasslands to mopane woodlands, stopping at key waterholes where animals congregate throughout the day.

Keep your camera ready as you search for elephants, lions, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, springboks, and many other species that thrive in this arid ecosystem. The park is also a paradise for bird lovers, with over 300 species recorded, including flamingos and eagles.

In the late afternoon, exit the park through Von Lindquist Gate on the eastern side and continue to your lodge in Onguma Nature Reserve, a private reserve bordering Etosha. Relax at your camp, enjoy a drink overlooking the waterhole, and reflect on the day’s unforgettable sightings before dinner.

Overnight: Onguma Nature Reserve
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner

After breakfast, re-enter Etosha National Park for another day of incredible game viewing. Covering more than 22,000 square kilometres, Etosha is one of Africa’s largest and most diverse wildlife reserves, centred around a vast salt pan that glistens white under the sun. After the rains, this pan transforms into a shallow lake that attracts thousands of flamingos and other bird species.

Spend the morning exploring the park’s grasslands and waterholes, where elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelope, and predators like lions and cheetahs gather. Keep an eye out for some of Etosha’s rarer inhabitants, such as the black-faced impala and Damara dik-dik.

Return to your lodge in Onguma Nature Reserve for lunch and some leisure time. In the late afternoon, enjoy a guided sunset drive through Onguma’s private reserve, offering another opportunity to observe wildlife in a tranquil setting as the golden light fades across the bushveld.

After breakfast, depart Onguma and travel south towards the Okonjima Nature Reserve, a 22,000-hectare sanctuary midway between Etosha and Windhoek. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge, set at the foot of the Omboroko Mountains.

Okonjima is home to AfriCAT, a renowned carnivore rehabilitation project that provides cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and other predators with a safe environment to regain independence before returning to the wild. The name “Okonjima” comes from the Herero language, meaning place of the baboons.

This afternoon, enjoy your first guided activity in the reserve, such as tracking cheetahs or leopards, learning about predator conservation, or exploring the reserve’s network of trails. After dinner, join a night drive to encounter nocturnal wildlife and enjoy breathtaking views of the star-filled Namibian sky.
